Rupert George selected as Green Party candidate for Bow East by-election

Tower Hamlets Green Party members have selected experienced campaigner Rupert George as their candidate for the upcoming Bow East by-election, which will be held on Thursday 12 September 2024.

A Bow resident, Rupert has lived in London all his life, and in Tower Hamlets for almost twenty years. His children attend school locally, and his family has lived in the city for generations. Rupert was instrumental in the protests by parents and children at Chisenhale School against the removal of the school street in 2022.

Rupert is the Green Party’s national Communications Manager and was responsible for coordinating the General Election Manifesto. He brings an extensive and deep understanding of local authority policy, he has campaigned on behalf of councils nationwide as UK100 Director of Communications and edited a publication on local government policy. He is also an experienced media spokesperson and has represented several major organisations on national broadcast media. Rupert’s professional policy and media skills and experience, together with his extensive local knowledge and strong commitment to the local community, he will be a hard-working, compassionate and articulate voice for the people of Bow East.
